Fall guys lag – Wondering how to fix lag and fps drops in Fall Guys? Here are some fixes that might help.

How to fix Lag in Fall Guys

Is your system capable enough to handle Fall Guys?

Why don’t you take a quick look at the System requirements of Fall Guys and determine whether your PC is capable of handling Fall Guys properly.

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64bit only
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7950
  • PIXEL SHADER: 5.0
  • VERTEX SHADER: 5.0
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 2 GB
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2048 MB

Now looking at these requirements you might think that this is not a demanding title at all. Sadly, that is not the case. The developers have only provided the minimum system requirements for the game. Minimum requirements don’t really mean anything. It only shows the stuff you need to just run the game. Here are the specifications that we at Configs.Pro would recommend:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3 8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64bit only
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 1650 or AMD RX 570
  • PIXEL SHADER: 5.0
  • VERTEX SHADER: 5.0
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 2 GB
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2048 MB

Make sure you are using the correct settings for Discord

Now we all know how heavy discord has gotten recently. Many people don’t realize but it eats a ton of resources while running in the background. I am speaking from my personal experience. My personal gaming PC has a RTX 2070 paired with i5 9400F and 16GB of Memory. And still Discord initially gave me a really tough time while playing PvP or competitive games.

Therefore, it is recommended that you make few tweaks in order to stop Discord from reducing the performance of your system. Here is what you need to do:

  1. Start Discord
  2. Head over to User Settings
  3. Select on Voice & Video from the left sidebar
  4. Scroll down and look for the “Advanced section”
  5. Now follow these instructions:
Disable “OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco System, Inc.”
Disable “Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority”
  6. Select Overlay from the sidebar and disable in-game overlay
  7. Click on Appearance from the left sidebar
  8. Scroll down all the way to the Advanced section
  9. Disable Hardware Acceleration

Disable Steam Overlay

The Steam Overlay is recently causing problems in a lot of games. Try turning it off.

  1. Go to you Steam Library
  2. Right-click on Fall Guys
  3. Select Properties
  4. Under the General tab, check the box next to Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game

Do you have Background Recording on?

If you didn’t know, there is a feature called “Captures” in Windows 10. And inside Captures there is an option called Background Recording. The option is enabled by default for every Windows 10 user, and what it does is, it keeps on recording your gameplay in the background while you are playing any game. So turning it off would immediately give you a boost. Here is how to do it:

  1. Open Windows Settings
  2. Click on Gaming
  3. Select Captures
  4. Turn off Background Recording

For now, these are all the methods or fixes we have for the lag or fps drops issue in Fall Guys. We will updating this article again in a future as more and more optimization methods pop up. Good Luck!
