How To Farm Legendary Shards in Destiny 2 – Legendary Shards are a really important piece of resource in Destiny 2. First things first, shards have multiple uses, you can use them to buy exotics from Xur, infuse your weapons or armor, and reobtain gear from your collections.
There’s no mystery behind farming legendary shards, the only thing you need to know is that you have to play the game. Anyone who plays this game has a lot of them. I play Destiny 2 only on weekends and I’m currently sitting on over 3000 legendary shards.
Okay, enough about me and these things lets find out how we can get them
Spider Bounties & Exchanges
Spider Exchanges – So this is something that I had found sometime back. Whenever Spider is selling simulation seeds for other resources, grab a lot of them. Exchange these with Brother Vance on Mars, he will give you a lot of legendary loot, some of them even masterworked. This is great for farming Legendary Cores and Shards both. Someone on Reddit did the math, the return on resources was around 70-80% which is amazing.
Spider Bounties – Spider offers a boatload of bounties every week. If I remember correctly he has over 16 bounties that you can complete for a guaranteed legendary gear piece.
Delete Useless Shaders
I have a lot of shaders, from good looking ones to the ugly ones. Look for any shaders in your inventory that you don’t like and head to Master Rahool to dismantle them in bulk. Remember one thing that any Eververse shaders will turn into bright dust upon dismantling. So, you only have to recycle the ones you obtain from Activities, Tower, or Open World.
Gunsmith Materials can be used for getting legendary items from Banshee, I wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you are sitting on multiple stacks of 999 Gunsmith Materials. The packages offered by Banshee are not cheap and cost 100 gunsmith materials for each legendary gear piece. So for example, if you have around 3000, giving them to Banshee will give you around 30 weapons and a few shaders. Upon recycling the weapons you’ll get around 90 Legendary Shards.
Use Planetary Tokens
Most of the planets in the system have an NPC that handles them. For example, Brother Vance handles Mercury, Sloane handles Titan, Failsafe handles Nessus. Planetary Tokens are an amazing way of farming shards, just go to the NPC and throw a few tokens for exchange you will get legendary gear that you can recycle. Dismantling this gear will give you legendary shards, shaders, and a few cores.
Clean Up Your Vault
Whenever I’m low on shards, I like to head to my vault and start from there. If you are anyone like me who keeps a lot of guns and exotics with different rolls for testing at a later time and never do so. You should go ahead and delete everything that you have not used in the last 3 months, just make sure you don’t delete the god rolls, it’s always good if you lock your stuff. One more thing, you can delete everything from Year 1 because you can obtain it later on from collections.
Always do your tier/meta research before deleting anything.
Play The Game
This might come off as a stupid suggestion, but believe me, there’s nothing other than playing the game. This will offer you the most shards, this is the only method I used for farming shards when I needed them. There are multiple ways of getting legendary gear by doing:
- Weekly Powerful Bounties
- Weekly Powerful Missions
- Completing All Raids on All Characters
- Weekly Hawthorne engrams
That’s all for today, do let me know in the comment section below if you have any more suggestions for us.
